A day at IJsterk
A day at the daycare is a mix of free play, group activities, eating and drinking, outdoor play and quiet moments. We work with a recognisable daily rhythm, so children experience structure and a sense of security.
We generally work with themes that match the age and development of the children. Younger children mostly follow their own rhythm, while older children take part in more activities such as creative play, movement and discovery.
This way, every child gets a varied and stimulating day in which they can develop at their own pace.
We offer a varied, development-oriented programme of activities, including creative work like arts and crafts, music and singing, storytelling, movement and outdoor play.
We work with themes that connect with the children’s world and stage of development. Within these themes, we do a range of activities such as play, discovery and making things together.
At many locations, we also regularly work with external partners like artists, musicians and yoga teachers, who bring extra activities to the groups.
Outdoor play and movement are an important part of every day. We go outside as a matter of course and sometimes also do activities in the neighbourhood, such as a visit to the park or playground.
Outdoor play is a fixed part of the day at IJsterk. We go outside every day as standard.
How long the children are outside can vary depending on the weather, the activities planned and the rhythm of the group.
Yes, we regularly organise outings in the neighbourhood, such as to the park, the playground or the library.
These outings tie in with the daily programme and the themes we’re working with at the time.
We believe it’s important for children to move around and play outside as much as possible. We go outdoors every day where we can and offer activities that invite children to explore and play actively.
Outdoor play supports motor development, health and learning to play together with other children.
Babies develop at their own pace. At the daycare, there’s plenty of space to move and explore, for example on a mat or in a playpen.
At home, it can help to let your baby play freely on the floor regularly, so they learn to move through play. Baby seats can limit freedom of movement.
We provide varied and healthy food, including warm meals, fruit and snacks. We think it’s important that children eat well and get to discover a range of flavours.
We aim for healthy, responsible food. Depending on the location and supplier, we use products that are partly or fully organic.
