Strong pedagogical vision
We offer children a safe, secure and stimulating environment. It is important for children to have the freedom to be themselves, to discover their own potential, to learn to make their own choices and to learn to stand up for themselves. And for them to learn to be considerate of one another. This way, after four years, they will advance to primary school with confidence and the right social skills. The childcare workers undertake numerous theme-based and creative activities with the children. These activities correspond to the children’s developmental stages and interests.
In the two toddler groups and two vertical groups, children from the age of 2 follow the Kaleidoscoop early childhood education (ECE) programme (preschool). This is a good way of working in a development-oriented manner within childcare practice and encourages the development of the child.
Committed team
Daycare Prinses Irene has a close-knit team of knowledgeable and experienced professionals who have worked together for years. This ensures continuity, peace of mind and confidence among the children and parents. The daycare centre has its own manager, Chris Breek. You can contact her for any questions you might have.
Full of activities
Something really special is the presence of our resident artist Lynn, who stimulates the children’s creativity and introduces them to all kinds of things. The works of art are created in our own art studio and displayed in the corridors and the group rooms. The babies participate in this as well. These activities are aimed at the children experiencing and doing things themselves, at stimulating the senses and at the use of different materials. We also greatly enjoy the monthly visits by enthusiastic musicians. In a playful way, students from the Amsterdam Conservatory and the Amsterdam University of the Arts introduce the children to a variety of instruments and singing. Their arrival always brings an exciting and pleasant change of pace. The artist’s performance often inspires other activities with the children as well.
Healthy lifestyle
Every other day, our cook Shirley prepares a delicious hot meal featuring a wide variety of fresh vegetables. We mostly eat vegetarian and the meat we do eat is organic. The other days, we eat healthy bread meals, with fresh bread from the neighbourhood bakery, organic meats and other healthy toppings.
A healthy lifestyle involves exercise, so we go outside a lot. We have a large fenced playground and we regularly go to the Westerpark. But the children can get plenty of exercise indoors as well! We have a play tunnel, a large sandpit and a sensory corner.
On the separate baby terrace, we have six outdoor napping cabins in the direct line of sight of our childcare workers. In consultation with the parents, babies can sleep in these outdoor cabins. Children often sleep better in the cabins, boosting their immune system in the meantime. Experience shows that children really enjoy sleeping there.
Characteristic building
